Our Work

Updated 10/09

Debbie and Phil are so privileged to be a part of the Bible translation team. They're glad too, that they have such a wonderful team of partners behind them. Translation of God's Word and seeing God change lives through its power is what they're all about. The positions Phil has held over the years have all been involved with supporting those who are "front-line" Bible translators. He held many different positions at the JAARS Center over the years, mostly involved with management/administration in the Information Technology (Computer) departments. He served as Buyer for computer products that supply missionaries around the world, Manager of the Computer Store, Manager of Computer Support, Director of IT Distribution and IT Special Projects Ass't. His most recent position in IT was Director of IT Personnel.

In 2004 he began a new phase of his career and is now is serving as a Wycliffe US Personnel Administrator, helping new Wycliffe applicants through the process of membership and working with newly accepted members through their training that prepares them to become translators, linguists and support people. This also includes their time and efforts in completing their partnership development (raising their own financial and prayer partnership team), training, language learning, assignment and departure to the field as they begin their new missionary career. Are you curious so see what kind of things a new member goes through, what kind of questions are asked? Check out http://www.wycliffe.org/Serve/ to see. Helping each individual and family progress from first applying through their acceptance as a member of Wycliffe through their arrival at their field of work somewhere where people need God's Word will enable us to develop a relationship that will last throughout our lives and we are tremendously enjoying serving in that way. The excitement of these new missionary applicants and members is evident and really rubs off on Phil & Debbie.
In July of 2005 we made a move to Gray, Tennessee. This is about halfway between Johnson City and Kingsport near the intersection of Interstates 26 and 81. Since Phil's Wycliffe work can be done from pretty much any location, we believe that God called us to move back near Debbie's home where she could help with her sick and aging parents. Phil currently works out of an office in our sending church, Crossroads Christian Church, and we deeply appreciate their partnership with us in this way. Next time you're up this way, give us a call and drop in and say howdy.
