Bible Translation is US!
Ken and Katy Wienecke serve with the Non-Roman Script Initiative (NRSI), a tech-support group serving the 130+ organizations in the Wycliffe family of organizations involved in literacy, linguistic research, language preservation and translation for minority peoples around the world. The Wieneckes are in their 21st year of ministry through Wycliffe USA, currently working from their home-based office. The Wienecke family lives very near the Wycliffe/JAARS Center, located about 45 minutes south of Charlotte, North Carolina. Ken and Katy are able to be a part of this work through the participation of many partners. For more information about this, click HERE. We maintain an infrequent blog for those who want to follow our family and our ministry. Go HERE.

Our Latest News (updated Mar 31 2008)
Ministry financial info: Our level of pledged support is about 83% of our Wycliffe quota. Historically, one-time gifts have provided about 10% of our monthly need, so we still need a bit more pledged support. We will be redoing our "quota" in the next few weeks, and we're hoping that it will decrease (and hence our current support level will increase). Climbing the learning curve. Most of what Ken is doing now is updating his computer skills. For you techies, this 25-year Microsoft guy is getting used to his MacBook Pro, its Unix heart and the Apple and open-source ways of life. He's deepening his programming background to include PHP-driven dynamic websites (using MySQL backends), a custom Content Management System (CMS). He's also evaluating several Integrated Development Environment (IDE) systems for PHP programming. Aren't you glad you asked?

Husked Coconut God’s Word in the mother tongue speaks not only to the head, but also to the heart. One Pacific island Christian said, "When we read the English Bible, it's like trying to eat the husk of the coconut. But you (the translator) have husked the coconut for us and opened it. Now we can eat the actual meat."
