The Work of Wycliffe Bible Translators

The vision of Wycliffe Bible Translators is that God's Word is accessible to all people in the languages that speak to their hearts.

In 1942 Wycliffe Bible Translators was founded with the desire that all people be able to understand God's Word in their heart languages.

There are over 6900 languages in the world, and over 2200 of these languages do not have any of the Word of God. In response to this need, Wycliffe has implemented Vision 2025 - a goal to see a Bible translation program in progress in every language still needing one by the year 2025.

Soul Food
People are truly hungry for God’s Word in their mother tongue. At the dedication of a New Testament, an African church leader prayed, “These Holy Scriptures are food for our souls and water for our spiritual life. What we have dreamed about in the past has today become a reality—your living Word in our language.”

Current News

God continues to bless us as we serve in Papua New Guinea (PNG). We are so grateful for our prayer and financial partners who make it possible for us to minister in PNG. We will be going to the Pacific Orientation Course for 14 weeks of learning about the PNG culture and learning to speak Tok Pisin the trade language of PNG. Thank you for your interest in our ministry and the work of Bible translation.

Why translate the Bible?

The reason for translating God's Word into someone's heart language is so that they will be able to hear and understand the message of God's love in a language that they can best understand. The following is the beginning of a very simple message of God's love and salvation:

Ainda beká mo: God nu evetu genembo dubo bu gogog hombuse, jebuga evovodae irari ava baoro dae sedo, nunda Mandi...

Most of us do not understand these words, yet to the Korafe-Yegha language group in Papua New Guinea, these are the beginning of a the very familiar words of John 3:16. To learn more of God's love and salvation, click here.

Psalm 119:1,2, NLT
"Happy are people of integrity, who follow the law of the LORD. Happy are those who obey his decrees and search for him with all their hearts."
