Our Story
Serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators. We are privileged to serve in the Headquarters of Wycliffe. It is a privilege that many of you make possible. We could have continued in the secular jobs that we worked at for years. But, we heard God's call to leave that and work in jobs where we have to trust God's people to provide for our everyday needs. We have discovered that the descriptor "missionary" can refer to a wide variety of roles varying from frontline work in other countries to support work here at home to keep those people on the field. For us, it was a privilege to give up the benefits of regular secular work and step out in faith and follow our calling. In March 2002 we moved to Orlando, Florida to accept assignments on the leadership team at Wycliffe's headquarters. Joe serves as Vice President for Information Technology and Jerry is Director of Member Accounting. We thought joining Wycliffe would mean moving to another country. It turned out that Wycliffe desperately needed our skills in Orlando. We are satisfied to serve wherever God leads us. Even in Orlando we have significant interaction with those in countries around the world and we will have opportunities to work in some of those places on short-term assignments. Jerry's Story
Jerry has been a Christian since the age of sixteen. She also grew up in a Christian home and attended church on a regular basis. After marrying Joe while still in college, she put aside her studies to be a wife and the mother of two daughters. After the girls were in school during the day, she went back to college and completed a Business degree in Accounting. Until the children were out of school, she worked part-time in public accounting and eventually in corporate accounting. Her most recent experiences have been as a staff accountant, controller, and accounting manager. Jerry has been very active in the churches she and Joe have attended. She has served in a treasurer role, assisted in teaching Sunday School, coached a Bible Bowl team for eight years, sung in the choir and on praise teams, and participated in missions. She made a mission trip to Russia and participated in teaching in churches there.
