Our second week in PNG was mostly work and meetings and we didn't take too many pictures. Jerry did training in the Finance office and lots of one-on-one consulting with members who had questions, problems, or issues with Finance matters. Joe got to meet with the Information Technology group and see some of the problems of running an IT shop in this kind of environment. He also met with members who wanted to talk to someone from the administration. We were very excited to meet some of our colleagues from Pioneer Bible Translators (PBT). Since PBT is associated with the independent Christian Churches, we had a number of acquaintances in common. They organized a Tuesday evening potluck dinner so that we could meet everyone and fellowship. They even arranged for us to celebrate communion together that evening since the community church that serves Ukarumpa doesn't have communion as often as our fellowship would like. We had a lot of fun talking and getting to know that group. They have houses on the Ukarumpa site and get a lot of services from Wycliffe/SIL. By the time Friday came we were ready to leave. We took the early plane to Moresby in hopes of being there in time for our afternoon departure. The Ukarumpa fog lifted early so we had no problems. The hosts at the Guest House in Moresby came out to the hangar and picked us up. We did a little shopping and had lunch with them before they dropped us at the international airport. From there it was off to Australia where we spent four days of vacation. next page
