December was such a busy month. The trip to Africa was a fantastic experience and we hope and pray that we were an encouragement to the Wycliffe USA members that we spent time with as well as to the Cameroonians and others that we met. Joe has finally updated the web site with his report of the visit to the Mbembe language project. You can find it on our web site below (under Cameroon 2005) or just go directly to the report here. We spent Christmas with our daughter Susan and her husband Brandon at Ft Bragg in North Carolina.
January has also started with a flurry. Jerry is working lots of overtime to get her new financial system project going. As usual, there are plenty of software bugs and challenges. She now hopes to take the new employee payroll system live in the next couple of weeks.
Joe is busy with the Graduate Institute for Applied Linguistics Board meeting, the Wycliffe Board meeting in early February, and various other project meetings that are necessary to keep our IT activities going and growing. Some of these involve travel--he will be in Dallas and Denver in the near future.
Praise and Prayer requests:
Jerry continues to ask for prayer for Linda McMillan her right-hand person in Finance who has ovarian cancer and is not doing well. The doctors had given her six months but she is already too weak to get out of bed. She is facing dying with great faith but the department is struggling to cope with what is happening to Linda and its rapidity. We praise God for the safe trip to Cameroon and the work of Bible translation that is going on there. We were able to meet and see the work of some of the national translators who are working to bring God's Word into their own language. Joe is busy with meetings and still traveling. Pray for safety, productive times and meetings, and for God's blessing on our marriage when we are apart. The IT department led the weekly chapel service in early January. We pulled together an amazing praise band and drama group and had a great time. Praise God. Joe is having some dental surgery in a few weeks. Pray that goes well and heals quickly. Please pray about being a part of our support team, if you are not already, and, if you are, we thank you for your investments of prayer and funds in our ministry with Wycliffe.
