March 09 Trip to Chad

In March 2009 I (Bill) visited Cameroon, Chad, and Kenya.  My ongoing work is to support Bible translation efforts at the Africa Area level.   I am processing information technology leadership issues with country-level directors and their staff.  I learned a lot about the environment that our workers face during this trip. In Chad, the typical daily temperatures  go above 100 F.  The humidity is 20% (very dry).  I admired the team that is committed to completing the task of Bible translation.  One day I visited a Bible School.  The boy pictured above was present at this school.  Due to language barriers, we could not communicate well, except for greetings.

Central Africa Trip Aug 2009

Recently I returned from a ministry trip to Brazzaville, Congo and in Bangui, Central Africa Republic. The purpose of the trip was to review the information technology situation with Bible translation colleagues. This is part of our effort to grow our capability to serve the broader translation movement.

You prayed and the LORD answered. The flights and connections were made. I had some wonderful times connecting with colleagues, going over the issues that they face. We made plans to expand the infrastructure needed for their future program. It was a fruitful time. Thanks also for your prayers for Dorie during my absence.

Thaliane and his daughter Thaliana live in Brazzaville. He is involved in supporting information technology. Thaliane has visited our home in North Carolina.

There are people in these languages that will have the opportunity to truly understand the Bible clearly once their translation is available. There are more than 2,700 languages that are waiting for a project team to start...more
