Prayer Corner

January 2012 Updates

Pray for Bill's role in leading the Africa IT Discovery Team January 25-27, 2012 in Ruiru Kenya.  Other staff meetings take place after this in Nairobi Jan 31-Feb 3.

Pray for Jacques Akplogan and Bill as they travel Feb 4-9 for consultant visits with our organization in central Africa.

Thank you for praying for the Africa IT Connect Conferences this year. We had a good result in all these conferences.

  • Yaounde Cameroon (March 14-25, 2011): We had 9 participants from Cameroon and Ghana.
  • Burkina Faso (March 28-April 8, 2011).  We had 15 participants from 10 French-speaking nations.
  • Ruiru Kenya (June 6-17, 2011).  We had 16 participants from 9 nations.

Next conferences: Burkina Faso March 22, 2012.  And Kenya May 14, 2012.  These need liberal amounts of prayer!

Also pray for Mark & Catherine Anderson who are raising support to join our Africa team.

In September 2011, I visited the staff at Kenya Bible Translation & Literacy Center in Nairobi.

Some prayer items:

  • Praying for additional area-assigned staff.  Jacques Akplogan has joined Nairobi Computer Services staff focused on French Africa IT support, filling a major need. Chris Hecht from Wycliffe Canada has also joined the team in a part-time IT Consultant role.  Mark & Catherine Anderson are now raising support in Texas.

  • Pray for French translation effort for the Burkina Faso conference.  This is a major effort.

  • Sensitivity to hear and follow God in every area of our lives.

Thank God for successful installation of VSAT Internet in Central Africa Republic in March 2010 and in Isiro, DR Congo January 2011.  On September 10, 2011 Gemena, DR Congo  VSAT came online.  This is the first time their office has been online.

Dorie assignment with Wycliffe Bible Translators in human resources has changed to focus on member care recently. Pray for her role working with Wycliffe members coming and going from the US to various assignments world-wide.

Please pray for our son, Aaron, and his wife, Karen.  Their son, Grant, was diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome, a genetic disorder which will affect his future development.  Grant is three years old.  Their younger son, Wesley, does not appear to have this syndrome.  We rest in God's faithfulness, knowing that He does all things well, and His grace is sufficient.
