Bill and Dorie responded to God’s call on their hearts to serve in missions during their years in Michigan. Bill was working as a software engineer and project manager for General Motors and Electronic Data Systems. The Lord guided them to Wycliffe Bible Translators as this was a mission that was looking for information technology workers to help speed the pace of Bible translation.
In 1987 they took an assignment at Wycliffe USA Headquarters in Huntington Beach, California with Bill serving in the Computer Services Department. After four years they took an overseas assignment in Papua New Guinea. They served the PNG Branch in various support roles including information technology management and primary school librarian.
From 1997 until 2005,they served at Wycliffe’s support center, JAARS, which is located in Waxhaw, North Carolina. Bill served in an Information Technology management role and Dorie in Human Resources.
During 2006-2007, they worked with Wycliffe's field organization, SIL International Africa Area in Nairobi. In mid-2007 they relocated to Waxhaw. Bill is still Area Services Coordinator continuing his role with SIL Africa. Dorie is Personnel Administrator with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Bill and Dorie have three children: Aaron, Kyle, and Lydia. Aaron is married to Karen, and they live in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have two sons, Grant and Wesley. Kyle is married to Nicolette, and they live in Arlington, Virginia. They have one son, Nolan. Lydia is living in San Francisco, California.
