What motivates us to do what we do?

Personally

We are motivated by a desire to make ourselves available as instruments in the hands of our sovereign God; to make known his saving grace through faith in Jesus Christ. So that those who have ears to hear and eyes to see would recognize the treasure that is found in Christ, joyfully embrace him, and be brought to salvation. And the joy which fills the hearts of his people will further declare the glory of God among the nations.

"The ultimate goal of God in all of history is to uphold and display his glory for the enjoyment of the redeemed ... it is our privilege to be caught up with him in the greatest movement in history - the ingathering of the elect from every tribe and tongue and people and nation."     -John Piper

We also stand in agreement with the following organizational statements of motivation.

Vernacular Media Services (VMS)

Vernacular Media Services (VMS) [at JAARS] exists to enhance and encourage access to Scripture and related materials in usable media which are appropriate for the situation, with a special focus on media that meet the needs of oral communicators.

JAARS

JAARS serves Wycliffe Bible Translators and related organizations worldwide by providing transportation by air, land or sea; through computing and information technology; media in local languages; and other vital services.

Wycliffe USA

To assist the Church in making disciples of all nations through Bible Translation.

Consider me. I am a teacher and I speak the national language better than most of my people. Yet I have never understood God's Word when I read it in the national language. For example, the part in Ephesians 2 that says: 'It is by grace you are saved and not by your own deeds. It is a gift from God.' That is all very new to me. My people need this book in our language to understand these things."       —a national translator in Asia
