What We Do

Since 1991 we have served with Wycliffe Bible Translators.

In recent years Jim transitioned from
developing software tools for language analysis to Bible translation work, specifically serving with the Deaf in Bible translation in sign languages. He provided translation consultant help for Deaf translation teams from Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia and India. Jim worked with these teams to also develop linguistic and Bible translation resources for other Deaf translators around the world. In 2011, Wycliffe assigned Jim to work under  DOOR International (Deaf Opportunity OutReach) for whom he serves as the translation consultant for American Sign Language.

This aspect of Bible translation ministry is a good fit for us. Jim has been ‘hard-of-hearing’ and worn hearing aids all his adult life. His experience has given him both a concern for and acceptance by the Deaf.  We are associate members of Silent Friends Chapel, a ministry of First Baptist, Dallas.

Carol works with the
executive leadership of SIL International  as a communications consultant and Director of Internal Communications.  She was SIL’s International Director for Corporate Communications from 2000-2009. She also provides communication leadership at our primary local church, All Saints Dallas.

Our home is near SIL's headquarters in Dallas, Texas, but Jim travels often to Africa.
