Mentoring/Apprenticeship

Our desire is to see young people grow as followers of Christ, to grow in the gifts God has given them, and to grow to be disciple-makers.  To help that, we have two programs: Mentoring and Apprenticeship.

Mentoring
Program

Matching JAARS MKs with JAARS adult mentors

We find appropriate MKs and JAARS adult mentors and match them together—not to take the place of parents, but to come alongside the family and strengthen the relationship bridge from childhood to adulthood.

What do the mentors and young people do?

Much of this is up to them. They get together every week or two and share that part of their lives together. Jesus mentored his disciples when they ate, celebrated, talked, listened, and when He taught. Mentoring involves companionship, camaraderie, or basically, friendship.

Mentors and youth are consulted as well as the youth’s parents for matching up. We can match up JAARS adults with JAARS MKs from age 12 to 30 and could even have two friends paired with a mentor. We are open to creative opportunities that God may want to use for mentoring (such as an MK aunt or uncle  relationship) or for groups (leadership, exegetical Bible study, witnessing, etc.) and possibly even hobby or other interest groups (stamp collecting, remote control airplanes, etc.).

Communicate with us, those of you interested in mentoring or in being mentored. Parents are welcome to communicate as well.
