Dorcas Winfrey, Wycliffe Bible Translators

Wycliffe USA headquarters in Orlando. is where I work now.  I left Florida in 1975 to teach children of Wycliffe members. After serving in Ecuador and Mexico I joined the administrative team for children's education at the home office in California. In 1999, Wycliffe brought me back home to Florida when the USA headquarters moved to Orlando. Since July 2006 I have been managing education field trips for students who come to Wycliffe's WordSpring Discovery Center (visitor center),  www.wordspring.org

The LORD keeps bringing together a great team of teachers to challenge students to consider how they can become involved in Bible Translation now as well as preparing for the future. Our prayer is that students who come through our doors will accept the challenge to live for Christ and to consider how HE wants them to participate in the final lap of  the race to reach every language group on earth with God's Word. Hundreds of students visited WordSpring in the past year -- we expect even more in the 2008-09 school year. A little secret - our education team thinks we are having too much fun to call it "work", We continue to need more staff as the program grows and team members move on.

On this website you will find background and current information about my ministry. Some articles are directly from Wycliffe; the others are ones I update periodically.  I hope you'll register and sign in to see the rest of the pages.

With a little advance prep time, I am available to speak anywhere in the US.  I LOVE to share about Bible translation.

Until all have heard the Good News,

Dorcas

Passing the Baton

I admit it -- I am an Olympics addict, and watched most of the Beijing 2008 games. Handing off the baton in a relay race is critical to completing the race. Both the men's and women's USA relay teams dropped the baton in relay race heats - and didn't even make the finals.  How disappointing.

Todays students will have the opportunity to carry the task of Bible translation forward on the last lap of the Bible translation race to the finish line. There is no better time to begin passing that baton to the receptive...more

Soul Food
People are truly hungry for God’s Word in their mother tongue. At the dedication of a New Testament, an African church leader prayed, “These Holy Scriptures are food for our souls and water for our spiritual life. What we have dreamed about in the past has today become a reality—your living Word in our language.”

Future Translators

“I never realized what Bible translation is all about.” This is a very common comment made visitors to Wycliffe’s WordSpring Discovery Center in Orlando. The Discovery Center allows visitors to explore more

Living in Florida

Lois' Christmas Cactus

Living in Florida is a roller coaster of weather - going from storms and floods to drought to beautiful winter and spring days. Don't like the weather - just wait a few days!

We've had no tropical storms in central Florida more

Time flies..... ..........
August 2008: Have you ever been in a time warp? It seems like a time warp ever since I moved back to Florida. more
