Watching women read for the first time in their language is one of the many joys that I get in visiting villages and working with families. One of these women never even attended school, and has taught herself to read Fufulde, the trade language.

Michael, Aaron's father, has found that writing the instructions for chess in Bowal, and teaching people to play is a way to encourage literacy, get to know people, and learn the language! Here a group of kids are at the house learning how to play this classic game.

International Youth Day is a time of celebration for everyone in Cameroon. We got all dressed up and went to watch the parades of children marching past, traditional dances, and singing groups. With me in this picture is Anna, one of my students.

Therapy with horses? A young woman from Spain has come to do physically therapy with some handicapped children in Santa, and she is using the Jackson's horses to do it!
