Our Story
Shortly after arriving at college to study computer science, Tom sensed God calling him back to his childhood dream of being a missionary. A few months later, he learned of Wycliffe's need for computer specialists and concluded that this was where God wanted him: helping to bring the life-giving words of Scripture to people beyond the reach of the Gospel. Lily grew up in Honduras. After committing her life to Christ as a teenager, she became active in various ministries at church. Although the Lord had not yet revealed His full plan for her, she longed to be better prepared to serve Him. A few weeks after Lily arrived at Bible school, Tom arrived too, as part of a short-term missions group. Three years later they got married, with their sights set on sharing the vision of serving as part of the Bible translation effort. In 1998 the Bogles began their first assignment at the JAARS Center. Tom has been helping to develop computer software used by linguists and translators. He is currently software development lead on the Translation Editor project. From time to time, he also leads short-term trips to Honduras. Lily has been caring for and homeschooling their daughters, Joylily and Amy. Her work at JAARS has included translating video scripts for Vernacular Media Services and helping in the housekeeping department.
