Missionary Linguist

Don't all languages come with alphabets? It's so basic, you might miss it! The first step of Bible translation is creating an alphabet for an unwritten language. That's where I come in. I'm serving as a linguist, studying and analyzing different languages of Tanzania.

I'm currently living and working in Musoma town, located in northern Tanzania.  Here I am serving with a cluster of Bantu languages -- eight language groups total!!!  We are at the very beginning stages:

We've developed tentative alphabets and writing systems for eight languages now.  We recently began orthography testing (where we research how well the people can read and write their languages with the alphabets and writing rules we have developed).  God willing, we will make a start with Bible translation later this year.

Many thanks for your prayers and partnership in the Gospel!
