My Story
It was 2002, and I had been working as an Admissions Counselor for Johnson Bible College. I loved my job and my co-workers...

...I suppose I had always wanted to go where no man had gone before...

...I began falling in love with the Scriptures in a way that I never had before. Even though I held a B.S. in Bible, I wanted to learn more. I joined Bible Study Fellowship. I also enrolled in Elementary Greek to better understand the original language of the New Testament...

A Bible translator spoke to my Greek class one day and told us about the need -- almost 2,500 languages still waiting for God's word! I thought about what he said everyday...

...But I wasn't sure if God could use me. Before coming to Tanzania, I had never been out of the country or on a mission trip. (So this is my first time out of the US!) After 9 months of praying, though, God's Word convicted me that I must go. I committed it to the Lord. I applied and was accepted to Wycliffe. So 2 years and 5 semesters of Greek later...

...I sold everything that wouldn't fit in my car, left my job of 5 years, and was less than 4 weeks away from driving to Dallas, TX, to complete the required linguistics training for Wycliffe when my car was totaled. Not only that, but I was short $4,000 for my tuition fees. However, God provided in a miraculous way...

...Because of the Lord's provisions, I was set to go. On June 27, 2004, my home church (Cornerstone Christian Church) commissioned me as their missionary. They showered their love and support for me on that day (and they still do, very faithfully). The commissioning service is a day that I will never forget...

...Shortly after my commissioning, I moved to Dallas, TX, where I spent the next 15 months completing the required training for Bible translators... (See "Linguistics" link at left -- under ETC heading -- for some linguistics fun! I wrote these articles while attending the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics.)

...I packed and left for Tanzania on August 16, 2006...

I'm currently serving as a linguist, helping analyze unwritten languages, making alphabets, and developing writing rules. God's Word is coming to the people groups of Tanzania!!
