God Speaks Burunge!

On Sunday, July 8th, the Burunge people heard God speak their language!  They received the Gospel of Mark on this day.

More than anything, I felt like I had been transported to the very pages of history in the Bible.  Verses of Scripture were coming alive before my very eyes:

I saw the Word being preached on the mountainside;

I saw people walking in from the footpath through the cornfields, from the path coming down the mountainside, from the surrounding villages -- they streamed in throughout the day, a crowd gathering;

I watched as men, women, and children scattered in small groups strained to hear the Word -- some even climbing trees to get a glimpse!  I couldn't help but think of Zaccheus!!

I could just imagine Jesus walking and teaching in this place, here in a culture much closer to biblical culture than my own Western one.

I invite you to browse the photos from this special day.  Click on the thumbnails below for a larger view and description.  (Please note these are *not* in chronological order due to internet difficulties!!!)
