For hundreds of millions of people around the world, reading the Bible is like that--difficult, awkward, hard to get. That's because it hasn't been translated into their languages.
You are probably part of the 90% of the world's population who has God's Word in their language. But that means there's still 10%, hundreds of millions of people, who don't. Every eighteen days a New Testament is presented to another Bibleless people group. At the current rate of translation, it would take 150 years to reach the remaining 3000 language groups. That's not soon enough God's Word in one's own language! What better tool could be given to a newly planted church? And many churches are being planted through Bible translation. Wycliffe has recently adopted a new vision: that by the year 2025 there will be in place a Bible translation project in every language that still needs it. The task is do-able, and it is a task worth the commitment of one's life. Imagine a world where everyone has access to God's Word in the language they know best--now imagine that you are a part of making this happen. If you do feel led to do translation work for a Bibleless people group, Wycliffe offers the best training in the world. More than half of the members of Wycliffe are not translators. They fill a large variety of support roles, both long and short term--both in the USA and overseas. They are accountants, business managers, computer programmers, elementary and high school teachers, pilots, secretaries, media specialists, construction workers, and many other roles. Join the team by praying, supporting financially, or serving in the task. Your life will be changed for the Glory of God. |
