TwoYears specified term for OneStoryEpic

OneStory Quest for worldwide unreached people groups

It’s been 2000 years since Jesus walked the earth. But millions of people still haven’t heard the story.

What would you give for them to get the Good News?

How about two years?

OneStory Quest gives you just that opportunity.

Studies suggest that approximately 2/3 of the world’s population prefers to learn and transfer information orally rather than through print. This number is even higher for people groups not yet reached with the Gospel. This research indicates that most of the people in the world who have not heard the Gospel are oral communicators – they prefer to learn through songs, drama, and orally told stories.

This presents a challenge. How can the un-reached be reached if they do not learn by reading? One of the answers is an innovative oral approach called chronological Bible storying.

A new partnership, OneStory, is providing new strategies and resources that will enable the Church to use Bible storying to finish the task of reaching the remaining un-reached and Bibleless people groups. OneStory is a partnership among the International Mission Board (IMB), Youth With A Mission (YWAM), Wycliffe, Trans World Radio , and Campus Crusade for Christ. These organizations have come together to create a new two-year internship called OneStory Quest.

OneStory Quest is designed for college-age young people and recent college graduates. Interns in this program spend two years in interactive engagement with a people group helping to provide a set of oral Bible stories that will reach their hearts and minds. For oral communicators, a set of learned oral Bible stories serves as a portion of the Bible in oral form. Those stories become a permanent possession that can be used at any time, anywhere. They are an evangelistic tool that can reach multitudes!

As a OneStory Quest participant you’ll receive training in worldview research and Bible storying. You’ll travel to a people group halfway around the world, explore their lifestyle and get to know them personally. You’ll work alongside mother-tongue storyers to begin putting together a story set that will become their first presentation of the Gospel. Depending on the storytelling tradition of the people group, the stories may be told, dramatized, sung or danced.

A strong support system will be available to you every step of the way. Coaches and consultants will be on call. There will also be times of rest and spiritual refreshment.

What’s the outcome? You’ll have built relationships, ministered as part of a multi-cultural team, and produced something of eternal value. An un-reached people group will finally have access to the Gospel of Christ…and they’ll have it in a medium that communicates best to them. From this foundation churches can grow, disciples can be made and these un-reached people will no longer be un-reached.

Getting Involved:

You can enter OneStory Quest through any of the partnering agencies that form the OneStory partnership, and you don’t need any previous missions experience or training to apply. To begin the application process with Wycliffe, fill out the Self Assessment found on this page . If you wish to talk with someone, call Steve Rowan at 866-HIS-OneStory (866-447-3742) or write to Daniel_Lai@sil.org or steve_rowan@wycliffe.org.

Interns entering through Wycliffe, Campus Crusade for Christ, Trans World Radio or YWAM will need to raise about $1200 to $1400 a month in support.

If you are a member of a Southern Baptist Church, you may be able to enter OneStory Quest through the IMB Journeyman program. IMB Journeymen are paid a salary. They do not raise their support.
