FIRST WHOLE BIBLE IN KENYA COMPLETED BY BTL (Dedication Ceremony to be held in June 2012)
By the Grace of God, over 20 years effort, our Wycliffe Organisation in Kenya, Bible Translation & Literacy (BTL), has completed the translation of their first whole Bible in Kenya, the Sabaot Bible. This translation file is under final touch up & typesetting.
Sabaot People’s Profile: The 160,000 Sabaot people live on or near the slopes of Mt Elgon. From an altitude of 5,000 feet the hills gradually rise to 14,000 feet, crisscrossed by numerous mountain streams and spectacular waterfalls. An extinct volcano, Mt. Elgon is about 50 miles in diameter. The border between Kenya and Uganda goes straight through the mountain top, cutting the Sabaot homeland into two halves. They have been waiting for the Bible for many years.
