The Christian IT Conference on Saturday 12 May at Trinity Chapel, Robert Menzies College, is being arranged by Macquarie Christian Studies Institute (MCSI) and the International Christian Technologists’ Association. The conference theme is Connecting Gospel, Life and Information Technology and promises to be of great interest to Christians involved in the IT industry. Keynote speakers Gordon Preece and Ian Packer from MCSI, will speak about ‘Work and Faith’ and ‘Technology and Faith’. Roger Lawrence from Microsoft will address ‘Integrating Faith Family & IT’ and Graydon Colville from Global Recordings Network will be presenting about ‘Technology and Mission’. John Thomson, Language Software Developer with Wycliffe, at SIL International in Dallas will also be sharing about his work and a number of mission agencies including Wycliffe that heavily utilise IT will be represented. There’s an early bird registration of $40 that people can take advantage of until 16 April. The regular registration after that date will be $50 and there is non-waged rate of $30 available. As well as a the focus on Technology and Mission including agencies that use IT, the conference will be good to give people input about everyday life issues of Christians involved in IT roles and how work is already a mission field. In the morning, Gordon Preece of MCSI will speak on the connections between faith and work. Ian Packer, also from MCSI, will speak on the relationship between faith and technology. In the afternoon, Grayden Colville of Global Recordings Network and John Thomson from Wycliffe Bible Translators will speak on the relationships between IT and mission today followed by panel discussions including Roger Lawrence of Microsoft, David Miller of Crosscape Technology, IT educator David Watkins, Andrew McCoy and others. The Christian-I.T. conference is an initiative of the International Christian Technologists Association in partnership with MCSI.
