What we Do  

Dan is currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) for SIL International.  SIL is the primary program implementation partner for Wycliffe Bible Translators, with offices and personnel in 90 countries worldwide.   SIL is currently working in 1200 languages with the purpose of encouraging the ongoing development of the language and seeing the good news of God’s love and grace communicated in a manner that is understood.   SIL's headquarters offices are located on a campus in the southwest corner of Dallas, Texas. 

There are independent Wycliffe Organizations in 50 countries, each recruiting personnel and sending them out to work.  These Wycliffe Organizations are affiliated together through an organization called Wycliffe International.

Dan’s duties include the supervision of the Chief Financial officer, Chief Human Resources officer, the Chief Information officer and operations of the CEO’s office.  

Before serving in this role at the executive leadership level, Dan and Barb filled a variety of administration and support roles in the Sudan Branch and at the regional level in Africa, most recently serving in Dallas as the International Vice President for Personnel. 

Barb has been a shortwave radio operator, keeping in touch daily with translation teams cut off from regular communication.  She has managed a commissary, stocking and filling and shipping orders for basic supplies for those same remote teams.  She has managed the office for our counseling center in Nairobi, Kenya.  She has assisted the Africa Area Literacy Coordinator in a variety of tasks that facilitated the provision of literacy education and literacy materials across sub-Saharan Africa.  All the while she has been a committed wife and mom, making our houses home in some pretty challenging places.

Apart for the variety of Administrative roles Dan has filled, he has contributed to the development of Rosslyn Academy, an International Christian School in Nairobi, Kenya.  (http://www.rosslynacademy.com/)  Dan served on their Board for six years including a term as the chair.  Dan has also served on the Board of Directors for JAARS, a technical support organization affiliated with Wycliffe (www.jaars.org) located near Charlotte, North Carolina.  Dan and Barb serve on the Board for Barnabas International (http://www.barnabas.org/)  and Barb serves on the Board of Broom Tree Refuge, a ministry of encouragement and refreshment to full time Christian workers. Dan and Barb have been with Wycliffe and SIL for 29 years.  They are employed by Wycliffe USA and seconded to work with SIL.   Dan and Barb do not receive a salary; rather they depend on the generous gifts of individuals and churches for donations sent to Wycliffe as their income.   (http://www.wycliffe.org/)
